On April 16, the annual Tulip Ride once again rode out from Blazing Bagels in Redmond, WA to the Roozengaarde Tulip farm in Mount Vernon. For the 15th year in a row, Over 300 bikers showed up to show their support for the event and in extension to the Seattle Humane Society – the charity benefiting from Tulip Ride donations.

The pack, led by Jeff Henshaw, was joined by Acting Outlaws: Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff, as well as Star Trek’s Karl Urban, Bender and Gasser Customs in the wee morning hours for the first stop of the day: Blazing Bagels (intergalactic) headquarters in Redmond, Washington where the riders could warm up on some fresh coffee and breakfast (bagels!). After going through some basic ground rules and safety procedures, attendees got their photo ops, autographs and casual conversation with attending celebrities and received swag bags with the official Tulip Ride 2016 Bandana after registration. A newly added feature this year was the possibility for non-riders to buy “breakfast only” tickets. These would get you the same opportunity as registered riders (supporting the charity, autographs/photo ops with the celebs/…), but without going through to the Roozegaarde Tulip Farms with the rider pack afterwards.

Once the riders pack was on the road, they made their way to their annual stop: the beautiful tulip fields of Roozengaarde Tulip Farm in Mount Vernon. Armed with a smoking barbecue, attendees were treated to lunch and a visit to the Tulips. That marked the official ending of the 2016 Tulip Ride. Road Captain VIP’s enjoyed a continuation of their trip through a guided motorcycle ride. The total amount of donations will be announced somewhere in the next few weeks.

Speaking of donations! GOOD NEWS! While there, we also received news on the fundraiser we have been holding for the event in the last few weeks. The total ranked 464 dollars, for which we thank you. We rounded that up to 500 and found out through Jeff Henshaw that The Tulip Ride will DOUBLE the amount for their share of the donations (making it $1000!) Not only that, but Microsoft will double Jeff Henshaw’s match for a total of $1,500, making it a solid 2,000! We cannot thank everyone enough for donating, sharing,…

On a personal note, we have to say that the Tulip Ride was one of our favorite events we have had the opportunity to attend so far. If all goes well, we’ll be going back next year. If you haven’t yet, please check out www.tulipride.org for more information. Dates for next years’ event will be announced later. Trust us when we say that these people possess the kindest, most fun and most amazing souls! (#BikersRule!)
